DerryCounty Derry belongs to the province of Ulster and is one of the six counties that form Northern Ireland. The county has been established out of the former county of Coleraine and small parts of the counties Antrim, Tyrone & Donegal. Thus London companies could control the rivers Foyle and Bann and had sufficient wood for construction. County Derry covers an area of 2,074 km² and is divided into five district councils. The capital is Derry city, the second largest city of Northern Ireland. The city is a subject of dispute as nationalists call it Derry and unionists Londonderry. However, the county offers a lot to both, tourists and citizens. There are loads of museums, such as the Workhouse Museum, whose exhibitions deal with famine and poverty as well as the Battle of the Atlantic. Visitors may also admire the seventeenth-century walls in that stood several sieges. From the walls one has a marvellous view over Derry city.
